Starting school is a big deal for both you and your child, and may be met by any number of potential responses. At Telethon Speech & Hearing, we are committed to ensuring that every child and family is supported in a positive, respectful and safe learning environment that meets them at their own entry point.

Family Liaison Officer

The Family Liaison Officer is the first point of contact for new parents and carers enquiring about the Schools program.

The role of the Family Liaison Officer is to support students and families transitioning in and out of the program and to liaise on behalf of families with other Telethon Speech & Hearing staff in organising meetings, informational morning teas and parent networking opportunities. This person is available also to assist with information on possible allowances and avenues of support for families.

Family Information Evenings

Family Information Evenings are held throughout the year and provide an introduction to Telethon Speech & Hearing and information for families that support the work do with your child. Information Evenings are held throughout the year, details will be posted closer to the dates.

Morning Tea Information Sessions

We hold regular parent/carer morning teas throughout each term.

In Talkabout, these are generally held just after children are dropped off in the mornings. In Outpost they are held within the Outpost unit.

We will notify families several weeks prior to each of the morning teas so that appropriate arrangement for attendance can be made. Topics are selected from parent interest and attendance is purely on an interest basis. These are a good opportunity to meet and chat with other parents/carers in similar situations. We will be sending out invitations throughout the year.
